IKEA temporarily closes stores in Russia

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Ikea temporarily suspended sales and shipments in the country. The Swedish firm said that the conflict had had a major impact on its supply chain, and that it was unable to meet demand in Russia.

Ikea has also suspended all shipments and imports of materials from the region. The company's chief executive stated that the firm would scale back operations in Russia.

As a result, Ikea is also cutting its workforce in the country, and plans to sell several of its factories. It will also cut its purchases and logistics offices in Moscow and Minsk. As a result, the company expects to lay off up to 15,000 workers.

Ikea also plans to donate to the UNHCR and other humanitarian organizations. Its foundation announced an immediate donation of EUR20 million for humanitarian aid.

Ikea said that it has been a large Western employer in Russia for almost 15 years, and hoped that the country's stability would lead to a growth in the Russian middle class. But, as the war in Ukraine disrupts the country's economy, it is preparing to reduce its workforce and close several stores.

As a result of the war, major international corporations have decided to close their operations in Russia. Burberry, H&M, Nike, and Ikea have all temporarily suspended their operations. Some retailers have also stopped selling their products in the country.

The Moscow subway is also a popular mode of transport. But if you're looking for a thrill, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to visit than Moscow's famed Red Square.

While the Red Square is still a popular destination for tourists, a better time to visit is during the day. In addition to the famous metropolis, Moscow is also home to the city's best museums, including the state-run treasury and Russian national library. Moreover, Moscow's museums are free to enter.

The city's other notable landmarks include the Central State Archives, the National Library and the National Museum of Science, Technology and Culture. The latter two are reportedly home to a wealth of information about the city's early days.
